We provide a range of language services for public inquiries when you are working with parties whose first language is not English. We provide interpretation and translation in every world language.

Our language interpreters are professional, discreet and bound by confidentiality agreements. For smaller inquiries, we provide consecutive interpreters. Consecutive interpreters wait to hear a sentence or two, and then render it into the listener’s language.

For larger inquiries, or where there are multiple languages, we provide simultaneous interpreters and simultaneous interpreting equipment. Sometimes called “UN interpreting” or “simultaneous translation”, simultaneous interpreting allows the meeting to proceed as quickly as if it were in a single language. They interpret what the speaker is saying while they are saying it and the delegates listen to the interpretation through wireless headsets.

Through our Westminster Sonus division we are the UK leaders in simultaneous interpreting and we can supply all the equipment necessary to make the hearing run smoothly.

Harry Counsell is one of the only companies with the skill to provide accurate transcripts of proceedings in any world language. For example, if parties at your inquiry speak English, French and Italian, we can provide complete transcripts of the hearing in each of those three languages.

We transcribe all the proceedings in the original language. Then we translate the transcript into the languages required. We use our international network of offices and our broad base of translators to assign the transcription and proofreading to individuals with the right combination of skills and experience.

We can translate background documents, evidence and conclusions to and from any world language. We assign translators who have the right skills and qualifications to provide an accurate, fluent translation with superb attention to detail.
